Amergis Fill-in School Behavioral Technicians/Therapists in Burbank, California

A School Behavior Technician/Therapist plays a crucial role in supporting students with behavioral challenges in educational settings. Here are some key responsibilities and qualifications for this role:

Responsibilities :

  • Assisting Behavior Analysts: Behavior technicians work closely with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to implement behavior reduction and skill acquisition treatment plans.

  • Direct Support: They provide direct one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to students with autism or other behavioral needs. This can occur in various settings, including clinics, schools, homes, and communities.

  • Monitoring Behavior: Behavior technicians monitor students’ behavior, collect data on their progress, and adjust interventions as needed.

  • Communication: They communicate with caregivers, teachers, and other team members to ensure consistency in implementing behavior plans.

  • Data Collection: Behavior technicians record and collect data on students’ progress, which helps evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.

  • Collaboration: They collaborate with school staff, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive environment for students.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Typically, a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Some positions may prefer candidates with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.

  • Certification: Preferred, but not required. This certification demonstrates competency in ABA principles and techniques.

  • Experience: At least 6 months experience working with individuals with autism or behavioral challenges.

  • Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to follow behavior plans are essential.

  • Passion: A genuine interest in helping students succeed and improve their behavior is crucial.

Note: Fill-in BTs are not guaranteed daily work and it does align with more of a part-time position. On average, fill-in BTs typically work an average of 3 fill-in shifts weekly.
