Amergis EEG Technician | Weirton in Weirton, West Virginia

The EEG Technician performs routine and complex proceduresto obtain data for use in the diagnosis of clinic disorders of the nervoussystem in at least one of the following modalities of Neurodiagnostics:Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Epilepsy Monitoring andPolysomnography (PSG)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine and complex procedures to obtain data foruse in the diagnosis of clinic disorders of the nervous system in at least oneof the following modalities of Neurodiagnostics: Electroencephalography (EEG),Evoked Potentials (EP), Epilepsy Monitoring and Polysomnography (PSG)

  • Reviews the patient's medical history and meets with them toexplain the procedure and answer questions

  • Functions as a resource person to physicians and theirstaff, family members and hospital staff

  • Prepares patient and performs Electroencephalograms,Ambulatory EEG’s, BAER’s, VEP and other tests within scope of practice

  • Reports findings or concerns to reading physician for promptinterpretation

  • Cleans and maintains equipment (EEG machine and accessories)

  • Uses specific protocol for patient wires including takingthem off and proper cleaning and storage

  • Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies andprocedures

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a biological or psychological field; asrequired by state regulations and contract specifications

  • Appropriate Certification or State licensure; as required bystate regulations or contract specifications

  • One (1) year of experience in related field preferred

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

  • Participation and completion of amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
